UPDATE 10/31: All, we have seen the discussions revolving around this post and we want to take a moment to address it. First there was no intention of the City to mislead citizens regarding open bonds. There was some internal miscommunication regarding the info presented and thus it was presented to you in such a way. Yes, the bonds initially listed showed ones set to expire around the time this bond goes into effect. We’ve added more to the images to be more comprehensive. One that expires this year and two more with longer terms. Our team sincerely apologizes for any confusion and we hope residents understand the complexity of bonds mixed with the errs of humanity.
In our recent Town Hall meeting regarding the Police Station Facility Bond, City officials were asked if we had a list of current general obligation bonds that City residents are paying and when those bonds would be paid off.
The City reached out to Madison County Officials, who directed us to their website for this information. You can find it on the Voter Approved Fund Tracker page (search “Voter Approved Fund Tracker” or visit https://co.madison.id.us/departments/treasurer/voter_approved_fund_tracker/index.php). The County will be uploading the 2025 report soon.
Using the 2024 Voter-Approved Fund Tracker, you’ll see that:
• A Madison School District #321 bond, levied beginning in 2006, is set to expire in 2025 with an annual property tax amount of $3,388,750.
• Another School District bond, with an annual property tax amount of $1,312,988, is set to expire in 2027.
• The Madison Library District bond is set to expire in 2028.
If passed by voters in November 2025, the Rexburg Police Station Facility Bond (not to exceed $16.75 million) would have an estimated average annual payment of $1,505,976 over 15 years. The first annual property tax amount to be collected on this bond, if approved, would be in 2027.
Please see the Voter Approved Fund Tracker linked above for details that apply to City residents. As you’ll see, the City currently has no general obligation bonds.
For more information, visit our bond website at https://www.rexburg.org/page/rpd-station-bond, and feel free to reach out to Rexburg City Hall or the Rexburg Police Station with any additional questions.

Rexburg! 🎉 We are so excited to “Celebrate Youth” with you and Madison School District #321 today at Porter Park! It’s one of the biggest community traditions of the year, and we can’t wait to see families and students come together to kick off the school year. 🍎✏️
That said… sometimes life throws us lemons (or in this case, a few construction cones). 🚧 Road work unexpectedly began today alongside Porter Park on S 2nd W. While this wasn’t communicated to City teams ahead of time to avoid this scenario, we’re making lemonade of it together. That section of the road is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. With that in mind, avoiding that area as much as possible is advised, particularly during today's event, which is from 2-7 pm.
👉 Please allow yourself extra time when heading to the event and watch for construction and community traffic that will be heavy in the area.
An alternative to consider, the school district is offering two shuttles for convenient parking and transportation from the Junior High and Middle School parking lots. 🚍
Thank you for your patience, positivity, and community spirit. We’ll make lemonade out of this one, Rexburg style! 💛 See you at the park!

We're so excited for the Rexburg 4th of July parade to sprinkle some star-spangled cheer on our streets this week! A heads-up: if you start decorating City property—like parks, sidewalks, streets, or alleys—with things like blankets, chairs, or coolers before 6:00 pm on July 3rd, our City crews will turn it into a game of finders keeprs, collecting your goodies to stash away until you can retrie them after the holiday.
Keeping it festive and fun is kind and courteous to all the parade goers, and as always, be safe. Keep little firecrackers (and big ones, too) out of the street at all times during the parade; that Tootsie Roll can wait! We also recommend bringing your sunscreen and water bottles to avoid getting overheated. Nobody likes a passed-out passerby.
Once the confetti settles, head over to Porter Park for exciting activities and delicious food waiting for your arrival! The Party in the Park is sure to keep the spirit going all day long! We can't wait to celebrate this holiday with you!
We have to give a special shout-out to the @Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce for dedicating their tireless efforts to making these two events happen. Their commitment to our community is truly commendable. We’re grateful for their dedication and can’t wait to see the results of their efforts come to life in just a few days!

⚠️ Heads Up, Rexburg! We've identified a potential hazard with the new traffic light on Trejo and Yellowstone regarding the railroad crossing in the area. Crews will be working to program the light so that if the railroad light is flashing red, the traffic signal will not turn green. Programming on this light will delay the use of the light temporarily. Out of caution, our team will be bagging the light tomorrow until the programming has been installed. We expect it to take about a month.
💡❗ Please remember, while a traffic light is bagged, it is treated as though there is no light at that intersection. Safe Travels, Everyone!
