The City of Rexburg's Public Works Department has been evaluating Rexburg's roadways to find solutions to make them safer for the community.

Working with a consulting company (funded by a grant called Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)), a report was compiled and presented to our City Council on May 20th, 2026. Council adopted the plan, and the City is actively working on grant funding to help put this plan into action.

The report's summary reads:

"From 2020 to 2024, 2,029 crashes occurred on the City of Rexburg’s roadways, resulting in three fatal and 30 serious injury crashes. To directly address this crash risk and reduce the severity of crashes, the Rexburg Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP) was developed. The CSAP follows a data-driven strategy for identifying high-risk locations and systemic crash trends, which are addressed through a list of projects and an evidence-based safety countermeasure toolbox. The CSAP also produced a catalog of non-infrastructure, policy-based strategies to facilitate a continued commitment to achieving the City’s stated goal: to eliminate all fatal and serious injury crashes on roadways within Rexburg."
